Take your horse on vacation…
and your loved ones too!
Haywire Farms is set in the colorful hills just outside of Galena Territories and is nestled on 250 acres of riding trails (and cross country jumps) with access to the miles of trails in the Territory. Our fantastic new facility included 180’ x 80’ indoor arena with a viewing room and all amenities, an outdoor arena and luxurious turnout and excellent care for your horses.
For the non-equestrian in your group (and you while your horse rests after a good ride), the area boasts the best of golfing, water sports, hiking, biking, antiquing, camping, fishing, all winter sports, hunting and fine and family dining and accommodations. Treat yourself and the other ones you love — on four legs or two — anytime of the year.
About Us:
Haywire Farms is a family business run by proprietor Anita Johnson.
Originally, part of the historic Avery Hill Farm, Haywire was purchased by the Johnson Family a few weeks after the first Inn at the Galena Territories burnt to the ground in 1992. It was the Johnson family weekend retreat for fox hunting with Cornwall Hounds (Elizabeth, IL). In 2000, Haywire expanded from a few acres of turn out with an outdoor arena and 5 stall barn to a commercial boarding and training facility complete with pasture and stall board, 180 x 81 indoor arena and viewing room with kitchen, bathrooms and office.
Haywire Farms hosts several mini events, unrated hunter/jumper shows and clinics for horse and rider each year. Set in the rolling hills of JoDaviess County, it truly is a paradise for horse and rider.
Facility manager is Joseph de Parasis .
